This week’s theme was Hanukkah. In language development this week, we read various Hanukkah themed books, colored on “H” cutouts with crayons, wrote on boogie boards, used bingo daubers on papers with Hebrew letters, and wrote on chalk and chalkboards. In cognitive development this week, we matched candles by color, searched for coins on the patio, manipulated puzzles, did a salt and oil experiment, and counting latke cutouts. In motor development this week, we manipulated play-doh with cookie cutters, spun dreidels (attempted too at least), ran back and forth on the patio, placed stickers on a poster board, and explored with our wooden exploration set. In social and emotional development this week, we passed a potato around in a circle, and sang If You’re Happy and You Know It.” In art this week, we painted with candlesticks, watercolors, potato halves, and glued tissue paper onto dreidels. In social studies this week, we talked about different things people do for the holidays in different cultures. Tomorrow we will write on magnetic writing boards in language development, make oil and water sensory bottles in cognitive development, dance to Hanukkah music with scarves in motor development, and paint with dreidels in art.
