This week has been all about pets! Which pet you have and which pet would you like to have…those were the questions we often heard this week! We started on Monday with asking if anyone would want something they don’t already have. Many of the children wanted elephants and hippos! So many were willing to give up a sibling for their pet so it had somewhere to sleep! As the week went on, we learned about new pets. We did a little research and decided a hedgehog would be cute, but we think we might just get a pet goldfish for now! For art, we painted with feathers, walked “pets” through paint, made a fish in a bag and will end the week with a pet rock! Some math activities have kept us busy with sorting feathers and making patterns with them as well. We also added “bones” to dog dishes and counted pets as we discussed their differences. Our language activities have been finding letters in a bird nest and spelling out names of pets with letters. We had a few different science activities, each giving cages or homes to pets. We added 9 small stuffed dogs to drama along with crates for cages. We had many animal doctors come and go, taking such good care of the puppies. We even had some special pets come to the classroom to visit! That’s always a crowd pleaser when a real animal in the room!
