Learning About the Circus!

We introduced the theme with a short video of the circus, and named animals, food we eat there and theme related art and activities.

Art

Monday- Clown- glued materials on paper to resemble a clown

Tuesday- Balloon stamping on paper with paint

Wednesday- Popcorn bags- glued paper strips on paper bags for popcorn on Friday

Thursday- Picture Day

Friday- Lion- paint yellow and glue rigatoni

Math

Popcorn counting with bags and counters, ice cream scoop counting, color matching and patterns placing in ice cream bowls, Popcorn tall buckets and colored chips for one-to-one counting, popcorn balls with numbers to practice counting and number recognition, and circus bingo matching grid- find 2 matches.

Motor Development

Colored chip clips with rope to hang by pressing open and hang on the line, circus peanuts/tongs and circus bags to fill up,, circus tickets and small circus box banks to slide tickets inside with fingers, scented play dough and small cookie cutters for pressing/rolling/cutting, and obstacle course to move body in varies directions.
