What a fun week talking about camping, and sharing stories of when we went camping. Monday in art the children painted with foil and in language they explored a rhyming word match, the matches together made a campfire! In math the children matched tents by number and sorted by color. Tuesday in art the children painted with rice inside a nylon stocking, using this tool allowed the children to bounce the nylon on their paper. In language the children answered WH questions, and this experience had the children work on their listening, and logical thinking to answer the questions. In math the children engaged in a camping bingo game. Wednesday in art the children worked on tearing, a good fine motor e strengthening experience. They tore yellow and orange paper and glued to black to create a campfire. In language the children used camping pictures to tell a story and in math the children went on a scavenger hunt through the room. They were given a paper with 6 pictures of the things they needed to find around the room. Today in art the children painted with marshmallows and in math they engaged in a camping concentration activity. In language the children worked on matching tents by letter. This afternoon the children will make s’mores by rolling a marshmallow in choclate syrup and then in graham cracker crumbs, yum! Tomorrow in art the children will paint with fly swatters and in language they will dictate what they would take with them on a camping trip. In math the children will engage in a path game to get the people to the tent! There were quite a bit of sensory explorations this week. In the sensory table the children worked with dried black beans, scoops, funnels and flower pots. The children also explored sand in buckets with colored gems, small Lincoln logs and red/yellow paper shreds and blats. In the block area the children worked with Lincoln logs.
