Nursery Rhyme Fun!

We introduced the theme with a new Nursery Rhyme song each day, did activities related to each Rhyme, books with various Nursery Rhymes, movements, jumping over the candle stick and introduced old Nursery Rhymes.

Art

Hot cross buns- painted white and added raisins

Jack Be Nimble- Glued various materials to make a candle stick

Ba Ba Black Sheep- glued cotton balls to black paper

Itsy-Bitsy Spider- glued various materials related to song

Humpty-Dumpty- Glued Humpty back together again

Math

Jumbo penny coins and banks to practice counting, craft candle sticks with #’s and clear jugs to count, fill and dump, sheep counting with cotton balls and clothespins with sheep paper boxes, foam cups and black pipe cleaners to poke and count the spider legs and egg shape sorters with holders to find matches.

Motor Development

Muffin tins with playdough for pulling a part and pressing onto each muffin spot to build finger grasp and strength,  candles with cups to poke through using both hands to manipulate, hold and make stand, sheep wrapping with black yarn and cardboard sheep wrapping the yarn around it several times-eye-hand coordination, egg drop with tubes to drop into tubes one at a time.

Sensory Table

Chex/cheerios, sheep animals, spoons, plated and marbles

Activities

Jack Be Nimble – The children pretended to be Jack and jumped over the candle stick
