Celebrating Black History

We introduced the theme with pictures of famous African American people, print, books and short 1-2 minuets about the person. I explained each famous person with short brief description and toddler friendly level. We talked about people having different color skin and how we treat everyone kind, loving and gentle no matter what color their skin is.

Art

Monday- I have a dream- made clouds with cotton balls- Martin Luther King Jr.

Tuesday–Hand prints on paper with black, brown and white paint- Rosa Parks

Wednesday-Crayon Box- glued various colored crayons on paper to resemble a crayon box-Barack Obama

Thursday- Marble painting on white paper w/ red paint to make a baseball- Jackie Robinson

Friday- Traffic light- Garrett Morgan

Math

Egg sorter shape matching, cotton balls and clothes pins to practice counting the clouds, color matching fruit/veggies with egg sorter containers to separate by color, sports ball grid matching game, traffic light experiment with skittles and milk.

Motor Development

Rainbow connect people to push together to snap in place, muffin tins and play-doh to pull apart, press and fill, scissors with various colored and textured paper to challenge and strengthen grip, sports balls and craft sticks to practice hitting balls back and forth/eye-hand coordination, Traffic light with contact paper to press and peel.

Sand , colored small counter people, scoops and pots
