It’s Dr. Seuss time throughout the center and what a fun time we have been having. His books with all of the rhyming patterns make fun story times for our children and the colorful pictures really had them hooked. Besides reading his books, we have had activities that had them taking felt fish on and off a felt board, learning how to center pieces with our one piece puzzles, watching magnetic letters move around on a cookie tray, and building peg towers on the peg boards. They explored play dough, colored on paper, shook shakers, and danced with ribbons. Our younger and smaller babies had fun mirror play as they practiced holding their heads up while on their tummies, laid under our toy arches while reaching up for the hanging toys above them, watched bubbles float around them and listened to songs about weather and animals. Peek-a-boo with teachers and their friends has had many of them belly laughing as they played and some of our older children are figuring out how to sign some of the mealtime signs that help us understand what they need. Balancing, whether in a chair, on their feet, or on all fours, have all been worked on and practiced this week as well as fine motor skills such as stamping or holding a spoon,. It certainly has been a week filled with silliness and wonderment and we are very excited to see what next week brings.
