Seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling, this week was all about our five senses! We started off the week by discussing what are five senses are. Then we took a step back and discussed what happens if we don’t have one of our senses. We discussed that some people who don’t have one of their senses or that sense is not as strong as others, they use devices to help them. For example we talked about hearing aids for those who can’t hear that well. We also talked about those who are blind or hard of seeing use the walking stick to get around or use their fingers for braille to read or like many individuals, we use glasses to help us see. From there, we worked on many different activities throughout the week. At the language table, the children wore blindfolds and had to feel the magnetic letters and guess that letter. The children let us know what they like to smell, see, hear, touch and taste and they played with the ABC lock and keys for letter recognition. At the math table, the children made sure to give Mr. Potato head all his senses and they were also blindfolded to feel magnetic numbers and guess the number. The children also worked on some number recognition activities as well. At the art table this week, the children painted with jell-o, cut out objects in the newspaper ads and categorized them by what they see, smell, hear, touch and taste. The children stamped with some bubble wrap because why not!? We will end this week of five senses with our Special Friends Breakfast, music class and a skittles taste test. From what we hear, warm weather is coming on through!! We hope the children enjoyed learning and using their five senses this week. We hope the warm weather is here to stay and every one enjoys it! Have a wonderful and fun filled weekend…don’t forget St. Patrick’s Day is on Monday so wear your best green gear!
