It’s Easter time throughout the center and our babies have discovered that plastic eggs are the most wonderful items to play with and explore.  They push them across the floor, take them apart and try to put them together again, drop them down a long cardboard tube, reach for them while they are practicing tummy time and watch them roll across the room when given the opportunity to do so.  They are loving them!  We have read books about the holiday and played peek-a-boo with a rabbit puppet.  They have colored and stamped, tried their hands at one-piece puzzles, and filled a contact paper egg with tissue paper.  Moving to the song Wheels on the Bus is a favorite past time right now and any time they hear it, all playing stops momentarily to dance to their favorite song.  Our older children are working on eating with a spoon, throwing their paper towel away after hand washing and cleaning up toys to a song.  Meanwhile, our younger children are busy with balance and coordination – mainly sitting independently and rolling, what a different world awaits them as they can get to different areas of the room to explore, all on their own.  Nesting cups, pounding benches, pop-up boxes and stacking rings have all made an appearance this week and it has been fun watching them all explore them in their own ways.  Scarves and ribbons have been used for fun games and to dance and move with as well.  It has been a colorful, exciting, busy week and next week will bring more surprises as they learn something new while working on and with familiar toys and items.
