Celebrating Dads

It is Father’s Day week and nothing better than sharing stories about dad. Monday in art the children did some roller painting and in language they practiced telling stories. The children chose 3 pictures from categories of a person, place and thing. They used the pictures to come up with either a story, or a simple sentence. In math the children matched numbers to a number line. Tuesday in art the children painted with a scrub brush and in language they drew a letter card and practiced writing it on a writing board. In math the children matched bow ties, and suit ties by color. Wednesday in art the children did some collage art and practiced their cutting skills as they cut the paper to glue. In language the children engaged in an interview about dad. In math the children sorted baseballs by size. Today was a swim day!! The children had so much fun playing in the waters, even with the slight chill in the air, they didn’t care, it was fun! Tomorrow in art the children will paint with rice inside a nylon stocking, by dipping it in paint and then letting it bounce up and down on the paper and this experience is fun to do while standing! In language the children will dictate why dad is special and in math they will count how many blue items they see in the room, then all red, and green and so on. In the water table this week the children worked with bottles, cups and funnels. Eco-Explorers came Monday and did a fun experience learning about how animals adapt to changes in the environment. The children got to pet some animal furs too!
