We had tons of fun this week building which happens to be our theme, Construction. The children did used different materials in the classroom to build something different. They used the hard block, Lincoln logs, magnetiles, wooden flat blocks, legos, and the marble track to build. They made different things such as a jet, a car garage, road for the cars, and so on. It was amazing what they could come up with. We talked about construction and what we would need to start building. Some of the children said that we would need a blue print to draw out what we want to build and they actually drew something on blue construction paper since blue prints are bule. We gave the children an option to build either a car or a dinosaur, they colored it, and put them together. Some of the children said that they wanted to make their own jewelry or made their own awn vehicle out of paper. There was a lot of creativity flowing this week.
We went to Westlake Rec Center Park where the children had lots of fun playing the playground, we did field toys, and rolled down the big hill. We went to Lake Erie Nature and Science Center to see what was new since they were renovating last year. The children were very excited to see the animals and we were able to walk around. We did go to the Planetarium and we learned about the different constellations. We finished off the week going to Botanical Gardens. We were sad to see that the Costa Rica Glasshouse is being torn down but it didn’t stop us from seeing other things. We saw different flowers, played in the play space, and one of the children noticed they have a chameleon and they watched him for a bit. We had lunch at Wade Oval. I think it’s safe to say that the children had a fun week!
Next week’s field trips: Great Lakes Science Center, Play ‘n’ Bay Park, and Cleveland History Center
