Put on your hiking boot, don’t forget the bug spray! This week we traveled to the Rainforest! At the beginning of the week we learned a little bit about the Amazon Rainforest. Did you know that the Amazon Rainforest is considered the lungs of the world…that’s right! It helps us breathe. The children also learned that there are four different layers of the rainforest. We have the forest floor, the understory, the canopy and the emergent layer. The children got to explore the rainforest with of course the help of the I-pad…but how cool would it be to actually go there! We discussed the types of things we would need if we went. We came up with hiking boots, a tent, flashlight and of course we can’t forget the snacks. This week the children worked on many different language activities such as letter recognition, BINGO, and writing rainforest animal names. At the math table, the children worked on patterning, sorting, and number recognition. There was creativity at the art table with creating a snake out of a paper plate, stamping animals hidden in the grass, and making animal tracks. We worked on some fine motor skills this week at science by flipping the frogs into their home. We hope the children had fun this week learning about the rainforest and there is more fun to have next week. We hope you all have an amazing weekend!
