Our theme this week was Nursery Rhymes.  We talked about which nursery rhymes they are familiar with and we talked about them.  The one that the children are most familiar with are Humpty Dumpty, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Mary Had a Little Lamb.  We recited them during circle time and this helped the children recall more nursery rhymes.  I think they changed their mind about which one is their favorite.

The children were able to recall their favorite nursery rhyme and dictate why it is their favorite nursery rhyme.  They practiced writing Ee on the magic writing board, and they practiced writing 4 four as well.  We had a discussion about some nursery rhymes are different than the Disney movies.  They also did a Nursery Rhyme sequencing activity and they had ot figure out what order each scenario goes in.

We did an Itsy Bitsy Spider ten frame activity where counted out how many spiders there were and they matched the number spider web to it.  They counted the dot on dominoes and had to look for the number card that matches.  They did a counting activity where they had count out the number of white or orange centimeter cubes.   They learned about which numbers were even and odd.  We talked about where we can find numbers because numbers are EVERYWHERE!

The children drew pictures of their favorite nursery rhyme, did a Hickory Dickory Dock art project, and we did a 1, 2, ,3, 4, 5 project as well.

Ms. Judy brought in beekeeper items for the children to see; she showed them what each of items do.  They even got to try on a bee suit!  They saw short videos of bees in action and they learned new things about bees.  She brought in honey that was made the bees too and we got to try it!

The children got to see some of their School Age friends from being in Ms. Tara and Ms. Chasity’s class!  They also met the older school agers and they all played together and chatted about what they are learning in school.  It was a fun day for them!
