This week has been OUT OF THIS WORLD!! That is right, we traveled to space this week and learned about the planets. We began the week by talking about things we know about space. For example, the children knew they lived on the planet Earth, we orbit around the sun and we have a moon. The children also knew that astronauts need special suits when traveling to space because if we go up there, we can’t breathe so our suits have oxygen to help with that. The children watched videos of astronauts eating and brushing their teeth in space. The children were iffy about wanting to travel is space because not many of them would want to float around all day because there is no gravity. We learned the order of the planets as well and learned that we used to have 9 planets but Pluto did not meet the criteria to be a normal planet so now he is considered a dwarf planet. This week the children worked on number recognition and sorting activities at the math table. They worked on letter recognition and writing at the language table. The children were creative at art by creating their own moon with foil, dotted stars, hand print alien in a UFO and their own rocket ship. We also worked on the letter Nn this week where we came up with words that begin with that letter as well as reading the letter Nn book. The children have been watching the construction a lot outside as well! The machines are closer to the fence now and we can see all the digging that they are doing. We will end this week with the Beck Center and music class. We hope the children enjoyed traveling to outer space and learning about the things around them. We hope that you all have a safe and wonderful weekend!
Space Fun!
