🌺 Luau Week in the Young Toddler Room 🌺

This week we explored our Luau theme through stories, music, movement, and hands-on play!

πŸ“š Language & Literacy:
We read Hula Baby and other Hawaii-themed books while learning new words like lei, flower, and beach. The children enjoyed songs, flannel board matching, and exploring real luau items.

πŸ”’ Math:
We sorted colorful flowers, counted flowers (1–3), and compared big and small shells and flowers.

πŸ”¬ Science & Sensory:
The children explored sand and water, tested sink and float, and used their senses to explore leaves, flowers, and coconuts.

🧼 Health & Safety:
We talked about sunscreen and hats, practiced handwashing, and explored healthy foods with pretend fruit.

βœ‹ Fine Motor:
Placing flowers on sticky paper and scooping sand helped strengthen little hands.

πŸƒ Large Motor:
We hula danced with scarves, walked through a β€œbeach” obstacle course, and tossed beach balls. We also had fun doing the limbo with β€œHula in the Coola.”

🀝 Social-Emotional & Social Studies:
The children practiced taking turns, sharing leis, and learned about Hawaiian culture and celebrations.

🎨 Creative Arts:
We stamped flowers, finger painted with tropical colors, listened to Hawaiian music, dressed up in leis and grass skirts, and built beach huts with blocks.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with usβ€”we loved seeing their excitement and curiosity all week! πŸŒ΄πŸ’›
