๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒผ This Week in Our Classroom: Gardens! ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒฑ

This week, we dug into all things gardens as we explored plants, flowers, seeds, vegetables, and how things grow through hands-on learning and play!

๐Ÿ—ฃ Language Development
ย We explored our garden vocabulary basket and learned the names of different garden tools and plants ๐ŸŒป. Children used crayons and paper for early writing experiences, enjoyed our garden-themed book basket ๐Ÿ“š, and used felt boards to build language and storytelling skills. We also sorted flowers by color while practicing naming colors and objects.

๐Ÿง  Cognitive Development
ย The children observed growing seeds in our seed sprouting activity ๐ŸŒฑ and discussed changes they noticed over time. We practiced counting with our seed counting tray and compared soil and sand while we explored different textures. Children also identified and learned about the different parts of plants.

๐Ÿƒ Motor Development
ย Our little gardeners strengthened gross and fine motor skills through vegetable hopscotch, garden path walks, and scooping soil with small shovels. Children stretched up high to reach leaves ๐Ÿƒ, practice seed pinching by picking up tiny seeds, gently cared for plants by watering them, and carried lightweight pots around the classroom.

๐Ÿ˜Š Social & Emotional Development
ย Children explored emotions using flower emotion faces ๐ŸŒผ and practiced identifying and matching different feelings to facial expressions.

๐ŸŽจ Art
ย Our young artists created with flower stamping, dirt painting by mixing soil with paint, leaf rubbings ๐Ÿ‚, seed collages, and handprint trees to explore textures and creativity.

๐Ÿงฑ Blocks & Sensory
ย Children used blocks and materials to create garden-inspired structures and spaces. In sensory activities, they dug, scooped, and explored natural materials with gardening tools.

โœจ Looking Ahead to Tomorrow:

Language: Letter blocks ๐Ÿ”ค
ย Cognitive: Pattern flowers with simple color repetition ๐ŸŒธ
ย Motor: Carry lightweight pots around the classroom ๐Ÿชด
ย Social Studies: My Garden โ€” talk about gardens and plants at home ๐Ÿก

ย Itโ€™s been a week full of planting, discovering, creating, and watching our little learners grow! ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ
