👔💙 This Week in Our Classroom: Fathers! 💙👔
This week we celebrated the special fathers and father figures in our children’s lives through hands-on activities, stories, art, and play!
🗣️ Language & Literacy
We practiced early communication skills in many fun ways. Children enjoyed listening to special recorded messages from their fathers and hearing familiar voices during our Family Message Recording Station. They explored toy phones while pretending to call Dad and used magazines to point to and identify familiar objects. We also worked on pre-writing skills using bingo daubers to decorate the letters in “DAD.”
🔢 Math
Our toddlers practiced matching and counting through father-themed activities. Children matched colorful paper ties and counted toy tools as they placed 1–3 tools into containers.
🔬 Science
We observed our shadows outside and noticed how they moved with us. Children also explored magnets and discovered which tools were attracted to them.
✋ Fine Motor Development
Little hands stayed busy twisting large nuts and bolts together, strengthening finger muscles and hand-eye coordination. They also worked on problem-solving skills by sorting shapes into matching houses.
🏃 Physical Development
Children delivered “packages” around the patio using carts in our Daddy’s Delivery Truck activity. They also rode bikes along taped routes during Drive to Work, building balance, coordination, and gross motor skills.
❤️ Social-Emotional Development
We explored family relationships using family puppets and talked about the different roles people play in our families. Children practiced sharing and taking turns while using toy tools together.
🎨 Creative Arts
Our class worked hard on special Father’s Day gifts and cards. Children decorated paper ties and explored painting with toy tools and cars, creating unique process art masterpieces.
👔💙 Looking Ahead to Tomorrow! 💙👔
Tomorrow we will continue our Father’s Day theme with more fun, hands-on learning experiences!
🗣️ Language & Literacy
Children will practice early writing skills by tracing their dads’ names using dry-erase markers and laminated name cards. This activity helps build letter awareness and pre-writing skills.
🔢 Math
We will compare big and small shoes and use blocks to measure and explore differences in size.
🎨 Creative Arts
Children will paint with toy cars, creating unique tracks and designs while exploring process art.
🌎 Social Studies
We will look at pictures of different jobs that dads and other family members may have and talk about the important work people do in our communities.
🏃 Physical Development
Our toddlers will strengthen their gross motor skills by practicing jumping movements during “Jump Like Dad.”
