Farm animals, barns, fields and crops; so much on the farm to learn about. In art this week the children fingerprinted sheep, painted with feathers, did some animal stamping, and painted pink for pigs! Tomorrow they will do some sponge painting. In language the children engaged in a roll’n cover where they rolled a letter die and needed to find the letter on a lettered barn. The children dictated about an animal of choice, what it feels, what it can do, and what it smells. The children explored rhyming using pictures and tomorrow they will dictate what they would have on a farm. In math the children added corn kernels to a corn stalk, they engaged in a number sense activity to match the number chicken to the number chick in the chicken coop; and then they needed to find the same number set of eggs to put in the coop. The children also worked with lettered barns, and 1 to 1 grids. Tomorrow they will make comparisons of how the animals are different from each other. In the sensory table the children practiced scrubbing vegetables using scrubber, small veggie counters and soapy water. On Monday the children explored a virtual trip of a dairy farm and they saw a farm with so many cows! Swimming day was fun and the children like to dump the water out of the pools and we have started to work with them to dump from one bucket to another so there is still water in the pool. Tomorrow will be milkshake day and the children are so excited!
