Sports Week!

We introduced the theme with a large banner on the wall with various sports balls; football, basketball, baseball, tennis ball, soccer ball and volley ball.  We read books, sang songs and talked about favorite sports.

Art

Monday-Baseball- marble painted

Tuesday- Swimming

Wednesday- Football- glued white strips on brown shape ball

Thursday- Golf- stamped with white paint and spike ball on yellow paper

Friday-Hockey- glued hockey stick and puck to paper

Math

The children practiced matching, patterning, shape building and hockey number game with various activities related to the theme. We had sports cups with colored coins for counting and color matching, shape mirror connectors to match shapes and create own shape structure, and number hockey game with numbers hockey sticks and puck.

Motor Development

Baseball lacing cards with wax string for sturdy grip while practicing weaving in and out of sports paper plates, practiced flicking paper footballs with fingers or hands across the table back and forth to peers,  and sports matching bingo grid cards. All activities allow the children to work on and master various fine motor activities throughout the year.
