It’s a JUNGLE in Here…

Look! It really is a jungle in the Pre-K room! We hung up all the leaves that the boys and girls cut out (lots of scissor practice time!). We will be adding some snakes to the vines and will be on the watch for a possible monkey or two! We have been listening to the rainforest sounds all week! We also did a virtual field trip to the rainforest. That was fun to watch all the birds that came in and out of the camera sight. For art, we also made lions and drew some animals hiding in the thick, green brush of the jungle floor. For language, we did some writing practice as we copied letters from animal names in the jungle. We also played a letter match up with “frogs” and “logs”. For some math, we counted, sorted and patterned with jungle animals. We also played a roll and cover game and counted how many animals we see when we look at the hidden animals on the iPad. We started our alphabet this week! We will do a letter a week (give or take a holiday week or special occasion). Ask your child about Abby the Alligator and what she did after she finished school! Since Fall Festival is this weekend, we did a few practice rounds of the “cake walk” and pretended to win fabulous cakes and cookies! We are ready for the big day! Our sensory table was filled with green, blue and brown construction paper, hiding all the tree frogs. We used our hands to move the paper and found the frogs. Many of the children hid frogs from others so they could find them, The giggled was loud and sounded like we all should join in! We got lucky with all the outside time this week as well! We played with lots of toys outside and got to watch construction each day. We see LOTS of famous soccer players in our future!
