Welcome to the Rainforest/Jungle! That's right, we explored our way into the magnificent rainforests/jungles of the world. This week the children learned about many different animals that can live in the rainforest such as pink river dolphin, jaguar, sloths, monkeys and snakes just to name of few. We had great discussions about what we would need to pack if we decided to go on a journey to the rainforest/jungle. Some of the items include: extra clothes, water, boots, food, and binoculars, oh and of course, we can't forget the tent. Did you know that the pink river dolphin is actually pink and the reason that it is in the Amazon Rainforest is because it does not have a lot of blubber to keep it warm so it would not survive in the cold oceans. Which brought up a topic of what blubber is and we discussed how it is extra fat that helps ocean animals stay warm. This week, the children painted with feathers and created a lion with forks and drew their own trees in the rainforest. The children also practiced letter writing and number recognition with fun frog games. We hope that the children have enjoyed learning about the rainforest/jungle as much as we did this week. It's always good to explore new things! We hope that everyone has a fun and long weekend!
