We introduced this weeks theme with pictures, songs and activities related.
the children made treasure chests by sponge painting paper and glued on paper coins, Telescope- painted black tubes gold and rolled their telescope in gold confetti, Pirate Hats- hand stamping on black paper hat and added gold/silver glitter, Pirate ships- glued brown paper squares to paper plate with hand print for flag, and Friday we will make a Pirate by gluing felt hat, eyes/nose/mouth.
The children manipulated treasure chest boxes with gems to figure out how to open and close, Red solo cups large/small to practice balance by staking them on the table, Gems/egg cartons to practice holding the tongs/squeezing and opening and closing to grasp gems ,magnet fishing to catch fish on the fishing pole that requires eye-hand coordination and lacing Pirate cards on Friday.
Pirate treasure counting mats as the children placed the coins/gems on the red line to practice counting, counting treasure wooden boxes to practice counting coins as they place them in the boxes, Magnet numbers w/ cookie sheets to be able to practice number recognition with teacher help.
Walk the plank- children will take turns walking the wooden plank for balance, Treasure Hunt- hide coins outside and have the children find as many as they can,
We will make fizzing treasure rocks, parachute play outside and make pirate apple & cheese boats
