This week was all about community helpers and we learned a lot about our parents! So many of you are community helpers as well! We had some great videos sent to us so we could see a mom or dad face and learn all about their job! We also discussed who else was a community helpers in our area. We learned that teachers, ambulance workers, doctors, nurses and fire fighters are all community helpers (and SO many more!). Speaking of fire fighters, we also heard a lot of stories on fire safety this week as we practiced how to get out if there is a fire and how to STOP, DROP and ROLL. This week was also all about the letter "Dd"! Our new vocabulary was the word "dozen". We learned that means 12. We also learned that so many of you are ordering dozens and dozens of doughnuts! Don't forget that sharing is caring! For some art this week, we did some clean painting where we put some fire colors in a gallon-sized bag and blended them. We also used our small muscles for a day and opened band-aids and made a collage. While doing this, we learned a lot about all the boo-boos these boys and girls have gotten. Oh boy! Our language activities have been surrounding letter recognition, especially the letters we have done A-D, concentrating on uppercase versus lowercase. Our math activities have been centered around numbers and also sorted biggest to smallest. We also worked on a community helper puzzle and practiced turn-taking. Our science table had various tops on it and it was great to see and hear the excitement as the children had "races" to see which top would spin the longest.
