Posted by [email protected] on February 17, 2022 at 4:00 PM

This week the children explored Valentine’s day by learning about how to be a good friend and what it means to be someone’s friend. On Monday the children used a heart-shaped letter wheel to explore words sounds, in math, the children made necklaces while counting the beads and they also made valentines for their parents in art. On Tuesday the children were asked what they do on Valentine’s day and some of their answers were so adorable. In math, the children were given hearts with different patterns and they had to successfully find another student with the same heart pattern. In art, the children tore tissue paper and decorated hearts. On Wednesday in language the children worked on putting the heart alphabet in order, in math, the children compared boxes of chocolates by guessing which box had the most chocolates, and then they counted each box to see if their guesses were correct, and in art, the children used their thumbprints with ink pads to decorate the inside of hearts. On Thursday in language the children traced different zig zag heart lines to get to the last heart, in math the children were given an XOXO pattern and asked to complete it, in science they explored sensory bags made of cornstarch, water oil, and food coloring and in music, the children played a dancing game where when the music was paused they had to get to the nearest heart on the floor. On Friday the children will be asked who is their friends and why. They will also work on putting together heart puzzles and in art, they will decorate hearts using all different painting utensils. In the sensory table this week the children explored rice, sprinkles, and Valentine confetti with heart cookie cutters and different sized funnels. In the science area, we added fake flowers and magnifying glasses for the children to explore a flower.
