We started this week off with our Valentine’s Day celebration. The children passed out their valentines and enjoyed their special snack. It was a success. This week in art we painted with heart shaped sponges, finger painted, painted with pink shaving cream and painted with pink salt. In math and science this week we sorted different colored hearts, counted the hearts on valentine cards, counted items in sets and experimented with fizzy hearts. For motor development we threaded pipe cleaners through a colander, placed buttons, glitter, and pompous on contact paper hearts, placed stickers on a poster board, hopped on various hearts, played with play doh and took turns on the rainbow climber. We placed in our sensory table, sang songs, did a heart scavenger hunt, and read various books around valentine’s day and love. We talked about breakfast foods and did related activities. In language, we traced our names, wrote with chalk, talked about placement of objects and colored.
Tomorrow we will write with dry erase markers, find matches of broken hearts, play with cones and bracelets, paint with pompous and do a breakfast puzzle.
