This week, we have talking about pets and our pets at home. We have discovered that 5 of us have dogs, two have us have 2 cats, and 2 of us do not have any pets at home. We also talked about what our pets' names are. The children learned which number is the most, least, or equal to. They said that biggest number of pets is 5 dogs. When asked why, they felt that dogs is the most popular number of pets in our classroom. We talked about what we should do if we see a pet or animal that is not ours and we all agreed that we should ask the pet's owner if we can pet it because it could hurt us.
We have been working on practicing writing different letters and number recognition up to 50. The children did something interesting in Art, they had to draw, color, cut, and paste dogs and cats. They were able to create their own pets and they had a lot of fun! We've also been working on 4 letter words by putting the puzzles together and verbally telling me what the word is by looking at the picture. We created a Yy word list, practiced learning what sounds each letter makes, and practicing writing pet words.
We've also been talking about using kind words, inside voices, and I have been giving the children gentle reminders to keep their hands to themselves because friends don't like it when others are bothering them.
We have been talking about what to expect when Senator Antonio comes in our classroom to read to us. The children are very excited and they have questions that they want to ask her such as "What does she do as a Senator", "Where does she go to work", "What is her favorite color". etc.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
