Fun With Gardening - Young Toddler

Posted by [email protected] on May 12, 2022 at 2:55 PM

This week was all about gardening! In language this week we practiced writing by drawing on fruits underneath contact paper, tracing letters in soil, using scented markers to write on flower cutouts, and coloring with various shades of green. We also read various books centered around gardening. In math and science this week we counted and sorted vegetable counters, made mud and manipulated it, sorted flowers by color, and manipulated different puzzles. To help us with our fine motor development this week we fed caterpillars by scooping pompoms into toilet paper rolls, we planted popsicle stick flowers in play-doh, we threaded flowers into a strainer, and we wiped down different fruits with water and rags. In art this week we painted flowerpots, and we painted with broccoli, flowers, and apples. We also played with flowerpots, flowers, and watering cans in our block area and manipulated soil in our sensory table. We learned about working together and taking turns as we planted sunflowers seeds in our painted flowerpots and tossed apples into a basket. Tomorrow we will continue our gardening week by counting flower petals and sticking them to a felt board, drawing flowers on magnetic boards, sticking tissue paper on contact paper flower cutouts, and gluing gluing flower petals on paper.
