We love Christmas! Monday in art the children painted Christmas trees green and in language the children engaged in an activity to look at a number card the teacher held up, identify and/or find it's match on their tree and cover up the letter. Tuesday the children did some cutting practice at the art table and in math they rolled a die to add the corresponding number of shape buttons to a gingerbread house. Wednesday in art the children glued red and green tissue paper to a stocking and in language they dictated what they would do or see if they went to the North Pole. In math the children matched various size straw to lines on paper that created a tree shape. Today was a swimming day!! Prior to swimming in math the children matched shapes to a Christmas tree and also worked with fine motor experiences of fidget toys, spinners, small magnet rings and cutting. Tomorrow in art the children will marble paint and in math they will help measure ingredients for sugar cookie mix and they will help stir and roll out and cookie cut the shapes for their Christmas cookies. The cookies experience hits all areas: science, math, language, social, motor and sensory! After baking the cookies, once they cool off the children will decorate them. In the sensory table this week the children explored water with fruit counters and ice cube trays. We also had some sensory buckets; one with noodles, cups and scoops and the other with rice, a shovel and cups.
