This week was all about construction! We figured we would learn more about it since it is everywhere you look in the Cleveland area right now! These boys and girls were so interested in all the different kinds of trucks! On Monday, we watched a short clip of construction vehicles in a real construction site and then looked back at the pictures we have of the construction that happened right across the street from us (the hospital!). The class has been calling the hole across the street "the big pit". They also would like to fill it with water and swim in it! That's for another theme! At art, we rolled some trucks through paint and then rolled them across some paper. We also used yellow scraps of paper to make our own construction trucks or our own unique creations. For language, we used hammers to pound on rocks (paper rocks) that had letters written on them. When you saw a letter you know, pound it down like it is a nail in a piece of wood! Not only did this help with letter recognition, but it seemed to work on getting some frustration out too! We read many stories about construction and saw many books with pictures and descriptions of various trucks and their uses. Wednesday was all about water play! We took some play food out on the patio and had some "picnics" while we rested from the pool. It has been a busy, fun-filled week!
