The 3 R's! - Pre-K

Posted by [email protected] on April 21, 2022 at 3:40 PM

This week was all about reducing, reusing and recycling! We collected LOTS of recycled items and have been so busy building with them, sorting them and even using them for different things! One of our sweet girls brought the teachers in some flowers from her yard. We used two of the plastic bottles as vases to hold the tulips and daffodils! We have heard many fun stories about how others recycle around the world and even in our own backyards! We saw a few short clips about recycling plants and saw where our recycled items go after they are collected from us. For art, we painted with green and blue and discussed how we can help save the Earth (see front window!). We also reused old egg cartons and cupcake liners to make a flower collage. Friday will be all about the lids we have been saving and make a painting full of various circles! Our science has been all about the reused milk jugs we have outside that are full of bird seed. We have been loving the way we get to see the squirrels and birds close up, without being in their space. Sometimes the animals are aware of us watching, but with the window between us, they know they are safe to eat all they can (before the giant blue jays comes!). Our language was a bingo game and we did some rhyming word families as our new reading interest has spread to rhyming words (at, cat, sat, hat). Today, we tried out: yam, ham, ram, bam. We had a path game at math. We got the recycle truck to the recycling center! We added some new trucks to the track table. Outside, we chalked when it was dry out and we looked for worms after a rain! We had a busy week!
