5..4..3..2..1…Blast Off! This week we took a trip to space! First off let’s say welcome back from the holidays and Happy 2024! Now back to the good stuff this week. This week the children worked on many different skills. At the language table this week, the children worked on creating their own sentence by having the who, what and where. Our friends also took the time to write out some space words and play Space BINGO! At the math table the children worked with alien shapes, counting star mats, and moon rock counting and recognizing numbers. At the science table this week, the children worked with baking soda and marbles. The goal was for the children to use the marbles to make craters. This week the children were creative at the art table by stamping stars into the night sky, making foil print moons and a galaxy using water colors and a coffee filter. We brought out the space shuttles that were given to us and used those and a out of space floor mat for the children to fly on in the block area. We put up the planets in the back of the room and with the help of the children, we figured out their order and labeled them appropriately. We came up with a game during group, the children were given a number such as 6 and they would tell us that is Saturn. With space lingo aside, we also took the time to bring back our letters of the week. We worked on the letter Nn this week by coming up with words, reading the Nn book and singing the Nn song. We hope the children enjoyed learning about space and the planets as much as we enjoyed teaching them! We appreciate all the space books that were shared this week and all the out of this world outfits the children had on. We hope that you all have a fun and fabulous weekend. Stay warm!
Blast Off!
