XOXO….Mwah! This week was all about Valentine’s Day! In the beginning of the week, we looked back into the history of Valentine’s Day and watched a quick video on St. Valentine. We learned that St. Valentine was a man who went against the law and married couples when it was not allowed way back when. He was caught on February 14th and thus that day became St. Valentine’s Day! This week we also took some time to discuss being kind to one another. We are working on using our words with our friends and keeping safe hands! This week the children worked on letter and number recognition activities, making patterns with candy hearts and sorting. We created some fun art using heart shaped cookie cutters, coffee filter heart and a love bug out of hearts! At our science table, the children worked with some candy hearts and vinegar. This experiment worked on fine motor skills by allowing the children to pinch the top of the eye dropper to get the vinegar and putting it on the candy hearts. The children also observed that the vinegar slowly dissolves the heart. On Wednesday we celebrated Valentine’s Day!! We made some chocolate covered pretzels, passed out our Valentines and had a fun and healthy snack! With all the Valentine’s Day fun…we took a step back and learned about the letter Tt. We read the book, sang the song and came up with some Tt words. We want to thank everyone for all the special Valentines that we received as well! You all are amazing! We hope the children enjoyed this fun loving week just as much as we did. Stay dry and warm and have a wonderful weekend!
