Green Eggs and Ham…The Lorax…The Cat in the Hat…just to name a few! This week was all about Dr. Seuss and all his glorious rhyming! We began this week learning about the man himself. The children learned that his real name is Theodore and that Seuss is his middle name but happens to be his mother’s maiden name. We learned that Dr. Seuss is not an actual doctor and he just goes by Dr. because his dad wanted him to become one. We also learned that Dr. Seuss got his love of rhyming from his mom who would make pies of different flavors and rhyme them. With that background, we had a fun week of reading different books and working on different activities. This week at the language table we worked on letter matching, writing words, and rhyming. At the math table we worked on subitizing, tic-tac-toe and number recognition. The children got creative at the art table creating red and blue fish, truffula trees from the Lorax, Thing 1 and Thing 2 and of course green eggs. At the science table we made fizzy green eggs and put some swedish fish in water, vinegar, and rubbing alcohol to see in which liquid they dissolve faster in. They all seem to be holding on strong! We took a step back and also worked on our letter of the week which was Vv. We come up with Vv words, read the Vv book and sang the Vv song. We will end this week with some Hop on Pop and our favorite…Coach Charlotte! We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

We would also like to say Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss (it is on March 2nd!)
