This week’s them is all about Spring, and we are waiting for those warmer temps to come back! On Monday in art the children explored line of symmetry painting, such a fun experience. In language the children matched lettered flower petals to a flower and in math the children engaged in a spring bingo game. Tuesday in art the children painted with spools and in language they built a flower of their names! In math the children worked on counting as they counted dots on a butterfly and then needed to find the matching dotted clothespin to clip to it; this also engaged their fine motor skills. Wednesday in art the children built a flower, gluing all it’s parts to paper and in language the children worked with position words as they listened for directions of where to put their duck: in the pond, on the pond, over the pond, behind the pond, next to the pond, and in front of the pond. In math the children used subitize cards to tell how many raindrops to add to their rain cloud. Today in art the children broccoli stamped trees with spring colors and in language the children matched letter birds. In math the children worked with 1 to 1 correspondence umbrella grids. Tomorrow in art the children will create a torn paper rainbow and in language they will see the letter, say the letter, and write the letter. In math the children will work with number sense raindrops. In the water table this week the children worked with flower pots, watering cans, and marbles. In the block area we added ducks and tree blocks to work with. We have also been reading lots of books about spring about longer days, new life and more sunshine and green!
