Mother’s Day

We introduced the theme by briefly describing Mother’s Day, practiced singing a special song for mom and stories about all different kinds of mom’s including animals. Named mother’s in different roles

Art

Made special gifts for mom and cards all week

Math

Family colored counters w/ trays(group by size/colors/similarities), color matching shape tape on tables with same color sea animals counters to practice color recognition, ice cream cones with various size pom-poms and colors for sorting by size and colors and number foam puzzles to practice familiar  and new numbers by finding where they belong on the puzzle mat.

Motor Development

Flower pots with play-dough and flower sticks for pressing into the play-dough to make stand, plastic flowers with table foam piece to press/stick into the foam to make stand making a flower garden, made Mother’s day cards( coloring and gluing), small wooden jewelry boxes with gems to manipulate locks on box to open and close, chops sticks and pom-poms with bags to practice using chop sticks with one hand or both to pick up pom-poms and place in bags.
