Welcome to PreK 2 and welcome to the LCCC family!  We are happy to have you and your children here at Lakewood Child Care Center!  This week we focused on learning the classroom routine, rules of the classroom and rules for outside time.  We are learning each other’s names and names of the classroom teachers.  We have been slowly adding new things to what we do in the classroom.  We start from scratch so that we can get know the children and see what they do and do not know.

Each week we focus on a new theme and this week’s theme is Back to School.  The children had to find their name card and practice writing their name.  They practiced writing their name in the sign in binder.  They sorted letters and numbers by figuring out if they are letters or numbers.  They sorted the counting bears by colors and counted how many bears were on each color.  They counted the letters in their name in the chart and verbally stated how many letters their name has.  They used number cards and matched it to the numbers on the poster board, We charted how we get to school.  They dictated what they wanted to learn in PreK.  I wrote down their responses and they drew a picture of their response.

They walked on the orange line as practice and this was a great way to teach them how to walk in a straight line.  They tore paper and pasted the torn paper on white construction paper.  They did water color painting and they drew pictures of their favorite thing they like to do.  It was a fun first week of PreK 2.
