This week was all about numbers! We counted backwards and forwards. We sorted straight numbers and numbers with curves. We even did some simple addition and subtracting with the book Ten Red Apples. At the math table, we used the number line to help us figure out what number comes before and after another given number. For art, we rolled a die and put that many dots on our paper. We made lines and rows and counted our dots at the end. We also used our small muscles to tear paper and glued it on a number (3, 4 or 5). Since our letter of the week was “Ff”, we also got to paint with feathers! Our science area was full of numbered magnetic pieces. We could “stick” them together in order, or just build and count our pieces in our creations. For language, we practiced some writing skills and wrote out number words through ten and also used small chalk boards to write letters we know or make numbers on the board. Our sensory table has been filled with so many buttons! We worked our small muscles as we had tongs to pick up the buttons one at a time and put them in various containers and cups. The rain put a damper on our outside time this week, but didn’t stop the fun in the Great Room. We made obstacle courses and ran laps to get some of our big energy out. To end the week, we talked about learning our addresses on our houses and even a phone number in case of emergency. We also heard some Flat Stanley stories. Be ready for a visit from the flat boy soon!
