This week’s theme was families. In language development this week, we read various books, named different family members on our family vocab board, we wrote on an “F” cutout, we traced shapes in shaving cream, we colored on paper with crayons and we wrote on clipboards with colored pencils. In cognitive development this week, we manipulated magnetic numbers, we matched different family members to their colored houses, we did a vinegar and baking soda experiment, we manipulated math tiles, and we sorted pictures of different family members. In motor development this week, did some yoga stretching, explored with a wooden exploration set, “shaved like daddy” with shaving cream and popsicle sticks, marched around in a parade, manipulated waffle blocks, and placed people on our felt board. In social and emotional development, we had a family picnic, and played Farmer in the Dell. In social studies we looked at family pictures and talked about our families. In art, we decorated a leaf and placed it on our “young toddler family tree.” we glued “hair” on paper plate faces, we made a family collage pout of magazine photos, and we stamped people on to paper. Tomorrow we will write on chalk with chalkboards in language development, manipulated shape puzzles in cognitive development, pick up cheerios with tongs in motor development, and paint a house cutout in art.
