This week’s theme was authors. In language development this week, we read books by various authors, we wrote on paper with markers, colored pencils, and crayons, wrote on boogie boards, and used finger puppets for finger plays. In cognitive development this week, we matched different pets, manipulated magnet numbers, sorted objects by color and mixed primary paint colors in ziploc bags. In motor development this week, we played with soft animals and brushes, stacked and manipulated triangles, connected animal connectors together, placed frogs on a grid and did an obstacle course in the great room. In art this week, we painted with blue paint, painted with watercolors, glued pompoms and tissue paper onto construction paper, and painted mouse cutouts. In social and emotional development this week, we took turns tossing beanbags into baskets, and played Simon Says. In social studies this week, we went over different classroom rules. We also added cars to the block area and filled our sensory table with shredded paper and foam letters. Tomorrow we will manipulate magnet letters for language development, screw nuts onto bolts for cognitive development, march around the classroom and manipulate magnetic rods and balls for motor development, and paint with shaving cream for art.
