Who’s in your family? This week, we talked about who is in our family, different types of families, and how different families are. We talked about who is in our family. We did a chart where I had numbers with the children’s names; they had to count how many people are in their family, and color in the squares. We learned names of our family members, pets, and we learned who is the oldest, middle child, and the youngest.
Our letter of the week is Kk and this is a hard letter for some children because it sounds similar to C. To help the children see the difference between the letters, we made a list of Kk words, I read the Kk book because some of the children were struggling to come up with words, we read the story, “A Pocket Full of Kisses” and the children recalled details in the story, The children did a letter patterning with pattern blocks, They practiced writing Kk on the magic writing board.
They had to find (any number) ten frames and they had to subitize how many dots are on the ten frames they picked. They played a Match It! math game where they had to count the number of objects and match the number that goes with it. Some of the children wanted to try the addition and subtraction that’s a part of the game. They practiced writing 10 and ten. They did number patterning with pattern blocks, they counted the number of people on the cards and finding the number card.
We drew a family portrait of our families and the children were able to tell me who is in their family., we made a turkey hat for our feast for next week, and we made turkeys to go on our window.
i do want to mention that we have hats and gloves for the children because in the past, some children lost their hats or mittens and they were sad so the center is letting the children borrow them. They stay here because they belong to the center. Please dress your children appropriately for the weather because we do not have extra jackets.
