Spring is in the Air!

Spring is in the air! No, for real…even though the weather doesn’t seem like it. But, even with the cold weather, we brought spring into the classroom this week. To begin the week, we talked about the changes that happen outside to let us know that it is spring time. Some of the answers included: when the weather gets warmer, the flowers start to bloom and we don’t have to wear that many layers. From there we started our fun activities around the classroom. At the language table this week the children worked on letter recognition, sequencing, played some spring BINGO and worked on writing the letter Zz which was our letter of the week. At the math table, the children worked on measuring flowers, counting sunflower seeds and working on chain link math where they identify a number on a cloud and add that amount of blue chain links to that cloud to make rain. The children became creative at the art table this week where they made tulips out of a fork, raindrop using tissue paper, butterflies out of sponges and flowers out of the bottom of a bottle using a stamp pad. At the science table, the children worked on their building skills with some of the connectors we have but we also had our walking rainbow experiment out all week. We put water and food coloring in cups and added paper towels in each while overlapping to the next cup. The children got to see that the paper towel absorb the water and become different colors…pretty cool! To end this fabulous week of spring, the weather seems to be getting warmer and our friend Miss Carly from the Beck Center will be here for music class. We hope the children enjoyed spring and we hope the weather continues to be more spring like as well! We hope everyone has a wonderful and fun weekend ahead of them.
