It’s transportation week throughout the center and in our room, this means more trains, cars, boats, and trucks to push around and explore. Our older children love anything that has wheels, so this is the perfect week for them. As they listened to transportation songs, such as Wheels on the Bus and Hurry, Hurry Drive the Firetruck, they had the opportunity to play with some of the larger vehicles and gave us the chance to tie it into the song. Art activities this week have included, gluing die cuts to paper, coloring, painting, stamping, and moving cars through paint onto paper. They have had puzzles out that had pieces that were different construction vehicles and listened to books that had those same trucks depicted where they could hear all about them. Crawling through a tunnel and laughing at their friends on the other end has been the highlight for many. The older children are still learning about different animal sounds and pointing out friends whose names they hear in a song. They are also working on throwing their paper towel away after we wash their hands, most of them love doing it and are anticipating it as soon as we put them down. Our younger children have been exploring sensory bottles, playing peek-a-boo with scarves, listening to books and songs, and are actively working on moving and sitting on their own. Our smallest babies have been watching themselves in a mirror and figuring out that is is themselves that they are gazing and smiling at within that reflection. It has been such a fun week and we are definitely looking forward to what is coming up next week and also playing outside to enjoy all the fresh air and sunshine.
