So fun of animals in the ocean this week. Monday in art the children made a paper plate jellyfish and in language they dictated, “If I lived under the sea, and drew a picture to go with their words. In math the children practiced counting by counting the number of sea animals on a card, and then they practiced writing the number. Tuesday in art the children the children put the layers of the ocean colors in order, and then drew pictures of things that live in the sea. In language the children learned names of animals, and other things in the sea as they played an under the sea bingo game. In math the children worked on completing AABB patterns of sea animals. Wednesday in art the children used a lot of their fine motor skills as they cut out an octopus shape and then tried using a hole puncher to make holes around it; a teacher assisted if it was too hard. After the holes the children strung pipe cleaners through them to create the legs, a busy activity for art! In language the children matched upper and lower case letter fish and in math the children looked at groups of sea animals and talked about which one was different, and how. Today was a swim day, lots of fun exploring scooping and pouring water too! In language the children explored beginning letter sounds by looking at a sea animal picture, listen to the sound to determine which letter matched the sound. In math the children sorted sea animals by type. Tomorrow in art the children will do some salt painting and in language they will write sea animal words. In math the children will play a go fish game. In the sensory table this week the children explored various items in the water: sea animals, shells and boats! In the block area the children worked with big lego blocks. It was a busy week and the children were also excited to practice working on a lap top, the office is always busy in preschool.
