It’s Summertime!  This happens to be our theme this week.  We talked about the different things that we like to do in the summer. and what we like best about summer.  Most of the children said they like that they aren’t in school but they love going to different places with their families or with us here at LCCC.  We talked about the different things that remind us of summer such as beaches, seashells, playing with friends and family, and how hot it is.  We drew a picture of Huntington Beach, made a sun, and we made a picture of something that reminds us of summer.  The children were very creative!

We went to Huntington Reservation and Kaufmann Park.   We spent all day at both parks and these two parks are the children’s favorites because of the different things they can do.  At Huntington Reservation, they played on zipline, climbed, ran around, and we went for a short walk.  At Kaufmann Park, the children played on the climber, played with the water spout, ran around, and swung.  They were so excited to be at both parks because of the options they had.  We will not have a field trip on Friday because it is MUD DAY!    They will have a blast playing in the mud and/or water!  They love having the other classrooms out there because some of the Schoolagers have siblings in other classrooms and it was so cute seeing them helping their siblings and playing with them.

We talked a lot this week about using our indoor voices and not yelling in the classroom.  We know it tends to get loud with 22-24 children in the classroom but it’s also hard for us to hear if someone needs something.  We have been practicing how to talk a bit softer so that it is not so loud in the classroom.  There are some places that we visit where we have to use our indoor voices so that we do not disturb others who are visiting the same time as us.  We also have been talking about keeping our hands to ourselves as some like to be handsy with others.  We tried to explain that not everyone likes someone putting their hands on them.  What we tell the children is that their body belongs to them and that it’s okay to tell their fiends to keep their hands to themselves.  We will continue to give the children reminders daily.

Our upcoming field trips:  Rocky River Park and Bradley Woods Park.  There is no field trip on Friday because we are closed for the 4th of July!  We hope that you see us in the parade!!  Have a wonderful holiday with your loved ones!
