BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Happy Birthday America! This week was all about 4th of July. At the beginning of the week as a group we discussed why we celebrate this day. We learned that July 4th, 1776 is the day we declared our independence from Great Britain. We learned that our flag has 13 stripes because we were part of the 13 colonies and 50 stars for the 50 states. We also learned that the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France and she is made out of copper but due to the weather, it turned her green. The children also learned about the Liberty Bell and that on July 4th it gets rung to signify our freedom. We learned a lot of history this week! The children worked on number recognition activities as well as making patterns. At language the children worked on letter recognition, writing and our favorite….BINGO! Unfortunately we did not have a field trip this week due to the weather but we made the most of it by having a picnic lunch in the room. The children splashed around on Wednesday for our swim day! At art the children created fireworks using straws, made some stars, and created the American flag. We hope that the children took a little history from this week learning about the United States. We hope to see you at the parade. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!
