Happy 4th of July!  This week we talked about the upcoming holiday which is Independence Day and why we celebrate it.  The children told us that it’s a day where we see fireworks in the sky, watch the parade, have a cookout, and we are not at school.  We explained that Independence Day was the say where we broke free from England because we wanted be a free country.  We talked a little bit about the colonies and how the states were slowly added until we have all 50 states being that Hawaii was the last state to be added.

We went to Rocky River Park and the children were so happy that the weather held off so that they can play on the climber, run around, and we went for a short walk so that we can see the lake.  We went to Bradley Nature Park where the children had so much fun running around, climbing on the climber, swinging on the swings, sliding down the slides, etc.  The children played with field toys and rolled down the big hill.   We went for a walk and we saw fairy house, a frog in the tree, and we saw a few garden gnomes.  The children also saw a deer on the hill!  We tried to find more animals on our walk but did not see any.  We had a wonderful week at the playgrounds.

We did a firework art project, made friendship bracelets, and we made a picture of something that reminds us of Independence Day.  The children made parade floats out of toys that we have in the classroom such as magnetiles, light table legos, and shape magnets.  They were very creative when they made the floats and they told us that they wanted to pretend that they made something for the 4th of July parade.

Speaking of the 4th of July Parade, we hope to see you there!  Some of the children told us that they w4ere very excited to see the parade or they are participating with us in it.

Our upcoming field trips:  Rocky River Nature Center, Madison Park, and Cleveland Museum of Art.
