Construction!

Construction – what a fun theme week this has been!  The older children have been building with so many different sizes, colors and textures of blocks and working out how to have some balance a little easier than others.  Of course, knocking them down is equally as fun!  Art activities have included stickers on paper, stamping, painting and coloring.  Books about different equipment used on construction sites have brought much excitement when looking at the different pages.  Pounding benches, peg boards, nesting cups, and shape sorters have been out and all of the babies have had a chance to play with them, all a little differently based on how old they are and what interests them the most.  Our youngest babies have been enthralled by peek-a-boo and the older children have been initiating it with them, all of them laughing at the silliness.  There has been babies trying to gain balance to sit on their own, babies who are practicing their rolling skills, and babies that have discovered themselves in the mirrors in the room.  We have been using their names out loud, the younger ones to turn toward what they hear and the older children to practice following one step directions after their names.  We have shaken sound toys, practiced waving and blowing kisses, stacked rings on a post, taken pop poms out of a whisk, and pushed large trucks as far as possible across the room.  What a busy week it has been, stay tuned to hear about how next week unfolds!
