This week’s theme was music, and our room was alive with rhythm, movement, and joyful noise as we explored instruments, sounds, and songs across all areas of development!
🗣 Language Development
We read a variety of music-themed books and explored different instruments—learning their names, sounds, and shapes. The children colored trumpet cutouts, used blue crayons while listening to the blues, and practiced writing on both dry erase boards and chalkboards.
🔢 Math
Our musical math adventures included matching instrument cutouts and playing a fun game of “Find the Instrument,” where we hid pictures under cups and guessed their locations—building memory and problem-solving skills.
🧪 Science
We combined vinegar and baking soda for a fizzy, bubbly experiment that sparked lots of excitement! We also explored textured sensory boards, noticing how different materials feel—just like how different instruments sound.
❤️ Health & Safety
We explored the incredible instruments we made with our families! Thank you to everyone who contributed—it was so meaningful for the children to share their creations with each other.
🏃 Motor Development
We danced with scarves, pushed buttons on a clarinet, practiced fine motor skills with dressing boards, got moving with the Cha-Cha Slide, and placed music notes on a staff—developing both large and small muscles.
😊 Social & Emotional Development
We explored emotions by listening to sounds that matched how different feelings might “sound”—like calm music for peaceful, or fast beats for excited! We also did our sweet “Hug Circle,” where each child took a turn giving and receiving hugs.
🎨 Art
Our little artists made an instrument collage, sponge-painted with blue, and used popsicle sticks to drum paint onto paper—turning music into visual art!
🎉 Looking Ahead to Tomorrow:
Here’s what’s planned to wrap up our week:
- Language: Matching real objects to photos

- Motor Development: Dancing to “Jump”
- Social Studies: Taking turns sharing our instruments with each other
- Art: Making paper plate tambourines
Thanks for being part of the music and magic this week! 🎺🥁🎼
