Color week is so fun when we see the whole center wearing the same color every day!! Monday in art the children water bottle painted with yellow paint on a triangle. In language the children did some pre-writing work to trace simple shapes of squares, triangles and rectangles., In math the children engaged in a shape concentration activity. Tuesday in art the children worked with stampers in blue paint to stamp on blue squares and in language they matched blue letters to blue letters on blue paper. In math the children worked with a 1 to 1 correspondence grid and light and dark blue shapes. Wednesday in art the children painted with cups in red paint on pink paper to make circles. In language the children created letters with red play dough and in math they explored patterning with shapes. Today in art the children glued different shades of green to paper with the option to cut, or tear the pieces. In language the children matched green lettered apples and in math they added green apples to a tree. Tomorrow in art the children will paint with fly swatters using light yellow and yellow and in language they will practice writing and tracing color and shape words. In math the children will play the mouse color game. In the sensory table this week it was themed around Spider man as this is a big interest with the children. They explored red rice with spiders and then added ice cube trays and scoops. In drama with the apple orchard, a store was created with menus’, a cash register and money, notepad and pen and Miss Natalie introduced the different roles in the store and engaged with the children to show how to pay for items, how to take money and give back money, how to write down orders and then make the orders. There has been a lot of interest with this and the children love to work with the cash register.
