This was a fun week with so many activities centered around colors and shapes. We started the week with yellow day! We read Curious George books and made our own yellow hat, just like George’s friend with the big yellow hat. On Tuesday, we explored with watercolor paints and saw how two colors can make a third. We also had blue milk to drink at lunch and at snack! Wednesday was all about red! We listed red foods like peppers, apples and cherries. We also painted with colored ice cubes and used our small muscles in our hands to create with wiki sticks. We also drank some pink milk this time (we learned how adding white to a color makes it a paler shade, so red became pink!). Out on the patio, we finally saw some construction going on across the street! What a pleasant surprise to be able to watch big trucks so close to us. For an experiment, we used Skittles and milk and a drop of Dawn soap. We watched as the liquids washed the colors away. At group times, we have gone on shape and color scavenger hunts and found things we matched with the color or shape I had picked out of a bag. The boys and girls would volunteer to go over and over to look for something new in the classroom. We will finish off our week with sorting Froot Loop cereal and graphing what we have the most and least of. Friday is all about rainbow day! We will snack on rainbow Goldfish crackers, look for rainbows on the iPad and use our whole crayon box to color!
